This protected flower, nailed on a door in La Couvertoirade, a beautiful town in The Languedoc (France)

FLOWER OF THE SUN (Cardabelle) So loved, so loved in southern France They made you protected I loved to dance Around you. I wanted you, wanted to. Used to kneel and softly caress Your rigid bristles, Your yellow heart, the brownish Leaflike mess Surrounding you. My beautiful miracle. They nail you on their doors In that town Your leaves turned from green To brown My flower My heart If you were with me, you would have been Still living Still green. They made you protected I loved to dance Around you In southern France. *** February 28, 2017 © Darren White

It grows in a small part of France only, so it's no surprise you never 'met' one :)

Thanks my friend, but no, it'really is about that flower, I lived there for about a year as a child and always wanted to write one day about the intriguing flower.

I like it, Darren, a hint of spring and the promise of summer.

Daren we learn something each day for I didn't know of this flower either but I can see how it could be perhaps in the sunflower family but that's just me. Your entry is lovely and well displayed.

They say it's family of the artichoke :) it predicts the weather too; heart closed means bad weather.

Very cool poem Darren and I have never heard of this flower before. The photo lets me imagine what it looked like green. Thanks for sharing this.

It's a wonderful flower. Its center large as the palm of your hand. So you can imagine how enormous the complete flower is. It grows flat on the soil. More or less as you see in the picture :)
