Captive
Captive
Hobbes
I am a maze,
A living puzzle.
My stripes are cover,
Living camo.
I stay hidden
safe from a world of predators.
Humans who would take my hide,
Skin me and hang it like decor.
Use my skin and fur as a rug,
The intricate patterns of natures beauty,
tarnished below the feet of oppression.
I am hunted,
Value lays in my skin.
Money means everything in this world.
My life is forfeit,
meaningless as long as profit is made.
We mean nothing to them.
My brothers fall,
The lion, the panther, snow Leopard.
Each falls to the human hand.
Each sold off into slavery or murdered.
And for what?
I am alone,
I pace my cage,
Asking questions...
No one answers.
This is my prison,
I must live here and I shall die here.
A spectacle for anyone to view.
I am a show for children to scream at,
For adults to take pictures of,
Flashe and sounds that disturb my sleep,
As I fade away to nothing..
A slave in captivity
