CANVASS OF OUR LIVES
Some people paint with their words,
Creating images with contrast and flow
That lift the hearts of others,
Inspiring both their spirit and soul.
Some paint with their life’s work,
Their canvases deeply composed
With connections to millions of people
Reflecting music, artistry and prose.
Some paint with anger, frustration and pain.
Angst colors every word, movement and action
With splashes of fiery reds, silvery grays, and blackness,
Reflecting unresolved and uncontrollable abrasions.
Some paint with their unwavering devotion to God.
Their vision holds the glory of heaven’s reality on earth,
Dispensing enrichment, peace, grace and love
To the starving masses aching for redemption and worth.
Some take from every genre: a drop here, a splash of color there,
Adding whatever comes to the surface until the canvas
Of their lives erupts in a rich tapestry flowing into connecting spirals,
Rising higher to fill in the stark and dark spaces like mighty Atlas.
They leave behind the depth of their emotions,
The heights of their spiritual devotions,
The breadth of their swelling consciousness,
The rhythmic dance of their hope in joyous explosions,
Sprinkling inspiration, awe or heartbreak among the rest of us
Circling within their obit and dwelling in the spirit of their being,
Dripping from their fingertips onto the canvas of our lives,
Each magnificent Soul embeds their unique mark before leaving.
