Canis Lupus the Wolf
Canis Lupus the Wolf
Spring is here
and almost to the end of April
when I will give birth to my pups
the inner layer of my wool, fur has shed
it will help keep me cool during the summer
My den is well secluded, dug, deep, and large
enough for safety of my pups away from searching eyes,
I need to nestle in and have my pups and keep them safe
I hear the pack lead by my mate communicating with each other
with their howls out in the distant woods
they will keep me fed until I'm able to safely leave
My litter of five pups are so beautiful,
they came last night
with black, soft, fuzzy, wooly fur with their eyes closed
they’re squeaking, mewing, and wriggling
I love laying here listening to them as they suck and feed
Two weeks have passed
and I see my loved ones are starting to mature
their blue eyes and ears are opened up,
by next week they will be crawling,
by the forth they will start walking
I can't wait until they're nine weeks old
so they can start venturing out in play
and hunt small prey for themselves
They actually won’t be adults
until they're at least two years old
then they can choose to leave the pack,
and have their own mate.
In the mean time I nestle with my pups
In safety as they wiggle and nurse
