Candle-Song

I am a monolith of wax—
My wick incessantly aflame.
I’d never choose to burn out,
Rather slowly wane away.

It is my sole desire
To afford you with some light.
As dim as it may be,
What I can—I will provide.

I can melt for you
So slowly
As my heart burns
Blue to white.
Sinking
Beneath
The flame,
Burning
Long
			Into the night.
