Cancelled Today

I studied and swotted
Til my eyes were on stalks
Went to all the lectures
Really listened when prof talked

Was up at night, just one thing on my mind
The end of term exam, good result required
Ate very little, skin looked a mess
Slept as I sat on a chair, oh dear I looked tired

Morning of the exam, tried to get sleep
Drank some strong coffee shaking with fear
Staying awake and in focus to keep
A notice on the door I saw as I got near

In very bold letters for all to read
Were the very words I didn't want to hear
I turned around, away I tread with dread
"Exam Cancelled Today"  who fancies a beer.
