Can We Go Back?

The last time we tried this
it didn't work out.
The time that we spent was so
filled with doubt.

I wanted to spend, with you,
my whole life.
But I knew you would never
make me your wife.

For I always paid for what she
did to you.
And now I am asking you, "What
shall I do?".

Shall I chance it again knowing
it may not work?
Do I go back again knowing
I may get hurt?

I never forgot you or how
we once were.
I just want to know, did you
ever forgive her?

Because I'm afraid that you're
still holding on,
to the hate in your heart that took
our love to ruin.

So, I was just thinking of how
long it's been,
and, if you've forgiven her, we'll
try this again.
