Can We Be One

Once in the star-filled winter sky,
When I looked at the crescent moon,
Hanging like a delicate jewel

I knew you too were looking high,
Our gazes might meet and get entwined
Far away on the surface of the moon

But now, I know your gaze never left
The atmosphere; never transcended
the barriers of time and this sphere

For you were always busy on your phone,
Watching reels and scrolling feeds

You never accompanied me
In my journey to the realms of beauty,
Which for Keats is joy, but for you,
A time waste and guilt.

Two hearts with different needs
Yet with the zeal to be consorts

What would it lead to?
Would it alter the spirits?
Or would it be aesthetic..??

Moon vs phone as a source of spirituality and light. I'm afraid the moon is losing in today's society. It is a discouraging trend. We can hope that people will take time to put the phone away for at least some of the day.

Dear Mr. Duke, I'm delighted by your gracious visit and heartwarming words. Your kindness is humbling. And I am overwhelmed by the fact that you care to read so many of my poems and not only that you left your kind remarks on each of them. Loved it. Thank you so much

Beautifully enticing words that feel beckoning . I love the idea of the two of you meeting in the time and space and brilliance of the moon. Maybe there the differences could be discarded for at least a few moments and you could really been seen with any distractions. Poignant write dear Paghunda. Susan :)

Dear Paghunda, your golden pen is as captivating as it is soul baring. Beautiful melancholy musings on the state of love.. I adore this pensive piece. Can "two hearts with different needs" truly become one? I hope they can find a path to share. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

I miss your poetry. I'm thinking these two need to part before the ugly starts. Compatibility is a must. Nice one
