Can I Abdicate the Throne

CAN I ABDICATE THE THRONE

congratulations
your sitting in the dentist chair
the new dentist checks you out
sends you into a whirlwind
when he’s ready to crown you
right there and then

suddenly
as you just suppose
your supposed to say
“ahh”
and the inside of your cheeks
pierced

numb
that’s how you feel
displaced
this is not at all right
your supposed to be home
in your easy chair

thrilling
how the drill digs
in your pockets
if truth be told
and the dark spectacles
cling
to your cheeks

funny
how texting is trippy
as if your fingers
are drooling as well

caffeine
she says
will reduce the medication time
we will see

we
    will
         see

by the way
   feel sorry for me

i do

Thanks, James! A poet always feels better spilling one’s woes onto paper! Ouch...
