Campfire Dreams
It's quiet in the woods beyond
And not far from a fishing pond
We sit and watch the embers glow
Enjoying roasted marshmallow
Build up the fire with layers of wood
It feels so warm and smells so good
The crackling adding to the calm
Soothing my soul just like a balm
Lost in the fragrance of the flame
All cares are gone,my wild heart tame
We listen to it burst and spark
Contrasting with the utter dark
Deep in the forest squirrels and deer
And other creatures hover near
I hear them stirring quietly
And sense their curiosity
The blaze grows dim,we'll soon retire
And leave this beautiful campfire
It smokes and starts to disappear
Stark silence now is what we hear
As I lay down and sleep resume
I still can smell the fire's perfume
Just can't wait till tomorrow night
The fire will bloom and shed it's light
