Notes About The Poem

Watercolor by Suzanne Delaney

Watercolor by Suzanne Delaney

Cameo in Indigo

day-glo lights the magic of fallen
snow over mountains weaving
shadow to-all shades of blue
alpenglow light interleaving
iceflow on slopes shining in
afterglow over a white meadow
aglow for trees covered with white puffs
cameo of a dream in indigo

Dear SuZ, I relished your poem’s vivid winter imagery as well as the beautiful winter scene watercolor. You met the creative challenge of the Lento form with poetic finesse and the challenge of watercolors with artistic flair. Warmest wishes my poet friend.. ~Susan

Dear Susan: I appreciate your kind and lovely comment. Aren’t we lucky to be able to wrestle with our creative urges? The best luck is when another artist sees and appreciates the struggle. Thanks for the ray of sunshine this morning. SuZ

Hi Sara. Thanks for reading and commenting. I hope you have signs of spring. There were a few shoots in my fairy garden yesterday and this week has been in the mid- 60’s.

Thanks Jeanette. Writing is very random for me lately. I pick a form and go from there. My painting was out on my table so I thought snow and then off I went. LOL Thanks for reading and commenting.

I am so happy to have your visit, Hilda: I was very challenged with the restriction of have the first word in each sentence rhyming. I may give the Lento another try in the future. Have a lovely day.

You have skills! I love the painting and the poem it inspired. Or was it the poem that inspired the painting? Thanks for your visit

Hi Rick: The painting inspired the poem plus trying the Lento was another trigger once I decided I would write about the painting. Interesting exercise making all those words about snow begin at the start of the sentence. So nice to catch up with you, too.

Thanks for the kind words, dear Tom. I am still a beginner with the watercoloring but getting there. I saw you were listed in the Top 100 recently. Congratulations my poet friend. I have missed being here but life caught up in a hurricane both literally and figuratively saw to that. Thanks for the welcome back. SuZ
