Came As a Lesson

I tried my best to protect everyone who came in my direction I even put their happiness before mine Until they took it for granted and it started to affect my mind Not everyone is meant to stay, most people come to you as a lesson a life full of mistakes with a mind trying to put them right a heart so broken, it'll shatter fully if it's touched tonight Some people's lives are full of luck But I was betrayed by the ones who were supposed to pull me up There aren't many that I trust to be Speaking with I gave my heart to people who had no plans of Keeping it I fought wars for people who were causing trouble for me I crossed over oceans for people who wouldn't jump over a puddle for me Mistakes is what I've been taught from When it came to girls I always thought wrong Playing girls, sleeping around, my morales stooped low But I just had an attitude of, why shouldn't I if they tell me I'm good looking enough to do so I had to get my heartbroken before I realised how great love could be But that's when I really wanted to spend my life, love free Because i didn't know if I could cope with that kind of pain another time I had all the bread in the world, without anyone to butter mine Now I know it's not about who's Better in bed or who cooks better It's deeper than who has the sexier body or who looks better To all of my exes I may miss you for a moment, or wish you were here for a second But I've realised you came as a lesson I hope you realise I came to you as the same Don't make the next person suffer because an ex caused you pain I locked my heart away, but don't do the same because it's difficult to get free Judge me all you want, but this was as honest as I could be I tried to protect everyone who came in my direction I even put their happiness before mine Until they took advantage of it and it started to affect my mind But I now know they came to me as a lesson
