Someone on another poetry site asked for poems about a woman and man who were both unfaithful to each other. This is the best I could do.
The singles ad pointed out to her was beautifully written.
Even though married, bored, Shelly was instantly smitten.
She told some big lies, so she could meet her soulmate.
They had a meeting place, and she agreed to be there by eight.
Her husband would watch their six children, of course.
He never had anything to do, if he was not on duty on the force.
He came in and said, "I have to go out, honey."
She said, "call a sitter, we have plenty of money."
She had primped and she looked her most darling best.
She was out the door, before he could do a single protest.
He called the sitter, and plucked his eyebrows. Looked his best.
Ran to the restaurant, for his meeting, felt it was duly - blessed.
He had prayed that morning for the woman of his dreams.
She was already sitting when he arrived, to her screams.
It was his darling wife, who had answered his ad.
They had the best date in years, maybe the best they had ever had.
"Walk by the beach, and hold your lover's hand?"
She smiled and whispered, "and dance to a band"
They laughed at their silliness, in love once again.
Nine months later they had a girl and boy twin.
