Cadence

once...
I wrote a song for you
lyrics sung of crescent moons
of stars on ceilings glowing, too
all of this I did for you

once...
I took a long shot chance
when you asked me for a dance
mirrors reflected a sideways glance
adding to the ambiance

once...
I had a vivid dream
that your heart could not foresee
nonexistent cadence rings
and rends it crimson at the seams

Joe Flach May 11, 2010 at 8:27 PM Nicely written. I like the flow, the meter and the rhyme. I've been reading lots of poems tonight and don't get the majority of them - It's nice to come across something I can easily read, understand and recognize as a poem. Nice job. Joe
