By Your Side

~ By your Side ~

Keep me close by your side when the north winds howl
I'll snuggle tight in your lap through the night hours' chill
Those who call me a 'creature' will soon run afoul
Of a cry deep inside me relentlessly shrill
You're exhausted, you're drained, from work's mud and mire
Fall asleep now, my love, it's almost midnight --
Once fair morning will dawn, good cheer will retire
Yon wild witches on broomsticks, who shriek out affright...

In the day we will play, you and I by your side
Safe and sound in sun's rays, we'll stroll o'er the land
Roam the fields, feel the breeze, see the ocean, her tides
Have a picnic for two on a blanket of sand

Yes, I'm your kitten, your baby, who loves you so much
~ Ever thrills to your delicate fingers' fond touch

Thanks for the great review, Kim. I'm trying out a new genre -- Sonnets with a dash of humor, sprinkled in at the end... ~ OD'd on Shakespeare's 150th. Bummer, Man... :)

Gershon, how bloody romantic! Woah and wow. Like it a lot. Can very much feel the comfort. Great 'blanket of sand' powders the mood perfectly. Cat or man, this is a lovable poem.

Ha, ha! 'Bloody Romantic!' Just a classic phrase. I don't think I could ever pull it off as well as you do, though! Thanks, Sigrid. ~ Old Blood and Guts
