By the Water Edge

By the water‘s edge

Amongst the little white waves
And the whispering winds
Waiting wishing
You would be back

We parted ways
The greener grass doesn’t exist
Now as I stay on the sandy sands
A shooting star is all I need

Your ending line made me laugh. You stated it so matter-of-factly and casually, and it is usually not so casual as this. Loved that!
