Notes About The Poem

Written 29 July for Sense of Taste Poetry Contest of Nette Onclaud

By the Streetlamp

                                             By the Streetlamp

                                    Secrets held by the streetlamp,
                                        Delightful, sad or wicked,
                                  Witness through its deadpan eyes
                                        Of events by its roadside,
As distant stars in the sky,
Are kept in depth of her heart,
                                         With its vows of secrecy,
                                      Never with someone to part.

Thank you poet friend for appreciating the above verse. On hindsight, I think it was not quite relevant to the sense of taste that the sponsor of the contest had in mind. This could be the reason for it not being placed. Wish you a delightful day

I rather like this. And what a clever idea for a poetry contest. Nicely done! :) john
