By the Light of the Moon

Faith is like the light of the moon at night

Yesterday was filled with sunshine
Its warmth upon my shoulders
Its caress upon my rosy cheeks,
Evoking in its memory a tender smile.

Yesteryear’s innocence of a child
The presence of a familiar shelter
Content upon my face, of peace
That even night allowed no fright.

As I stepped out to the open skies
Facing an unfamiliar world
The chill of the wind prompted me to seek
Refuge within my trembling frame and hide.

Looks furtive, voices gone quiet
Streaks of clouds silently entered
The sun, hidden, at times still peeked
Slowly falling, wishing sleep, tired.

Expecting total darkness, felt fright
Feeling lost, not sure where to turn
Sudden tears upon pale cheeks
Raising eyes in plea, just to see the moonlight.

Thankful for its protection, easing smile
Upon my face in renewed faith, a shelter
Brilliant light to help the path to keep
Until I can come to greet again the sunrise.

very nice thought, and so nicely penned....... thank you for ur deep and kind comment on "Answer Me". After reading ur comment, i shall write the other half of my song without profanity, and the song is not bout me, its a part of my imagination about man's war with god, about how he feels that god doesnt answer him, that god has deserted him, but its not so..... cheers oscar

I like the way you associate faith with light, Caroline. That is how I see it as well. My visions of the afterlife are always surrounded by tremendous light. Beautifully written! Love, Carolyn
