By the Fire
BY THE FIRE
By the fire I was emptied
When there denied His name,
Then His eyes met mine in sorrow
And I hung my head in shame.
By the fire I was enlisted;
Just three days had then gone by,
And I told Him how I loved Him
As His mercy met my eye.
By the tire I was empowered
In that upper room that day,
And three thousand came to know Him
As I preached salvation’s way.
By His fire I’m now encouraged
When the road is dark and long,
And the sorrow I may be bearing
Soon turns to such sweet song.
Oh, I thank God for the fire
As it burns and purifies;
It will mold me to His likeness
Till I meet Him in the skies.
