Buzzwords
My mother always said,
a "stitch in time saves nine." We did not sew, it would ravel out to the end.
My mother always said,
"a watched pot never boils." We would get busy cooking, the boiling water now washes the stove.
My mother always said, "double down" when you eat. At the table we would not eat much, come on dessert.
My mother always said,
"what a bleeding heart they are." We never saw any blood anywhere, where did the red blood all go.
My mother always said, "count sheep to go to sleep." Off to bed we would go, there were no sheep in the room to count.
