Buying Time
I bought time after paying the cost
A fleeting win chasing moments lost
A trial fought a mile walked
Each step a price each breath a tick on the clock
Nerves grating sometimes in fear
I didn’t win I shed a tear
Not in sorrow but relief
To still be here however brief
Working hard to earn some more
To purchase time just as before
Beg borrow steal the years
Moments filled with joyous tears
The past is set we can’t rewind
But through toil and grind we bend the hands of time
