Butterfly

She spent most of her life
wrapped in a dreary cocoon
With each day, the walls closed tighter
becoming her lifeless prison
Watching the outside world
she longed for the chance to break free
The days passed, the seasons changed
another spring had come
Finally, he appeared and brightened her world
as deep inside she started to change
A never-ending smile had fallen across her lips
as she looked upon him
His words so soft, his touch so gentle
she had nothing to fear, for he was her safety
Slowly, the walls came down
and she emerged from a tainted world
Her colorful wings sprang out from behind her
as he took her by the hand
All she had longed for is now her reality
peace, love, happiness
Together, they fly into each new sunset
for he has created this butterfly
