Car speeds by
Mourning cloak
Bounces lifeless 'pon asphalt
Tears trickle down cheeks

I found a mysterious spider dead on a forest trail. Some people on bicycles had just ridden by. I felt so sad for that spider as I saw it give his last movement and collapse. I wrote a poem called Into her Dream Forest. I will look for it and post it.

I saw a butterfly on our road trip to New Orleans, right next to our car where we stopped for gas. A sign perhaps, that mom is with her girls…who knows. Yours was a tragedy.

Kim, it is always sad to see one dead or dying when they are so joyous in flight. It probably fell from a person's car when they pulled in to get gas and it had hit the car somewhere out on the road. They are beginning to become more plentiful here now but not like they have been some years. I don't have as many flowers this year so nothing much for them to feed upon. Sara K..

Sara, they are wonderful creatures and serve a purpose in life’s web. We do need (as a society) to show much more respect for other forms of life, which we depend on though some don’t realize it.

Ah they are such fragile things butterflies: me and my son used to love butterflies, i remember once we had a butterfly as a pet: and we also been to some butterfly gardens, theres so many of them and all are beautiful in their own ways: well written about mourning cloaks: sending you light always
