but he followed her home
But he followed her home, the daddy said.
Mommy’s green eyes rolled to the back of her head.
You are so easy! He can sleep in your bed!
The goat loved it there, they named him Ned.
Mommy finally moved out into the shed.
Making it a haven, where she knitted and read.
What else could we do? The daddy said.
The little girl was happy, as was the goat named Ned.
