Bus Ride
The bus lurched and I jerked awake to “Who are you?” coming over the radio. As my vision cleared in the dim light I remembered where I was and why my legs were aching so much. Eight hours in this cramped seat that offers no comfortable position.
Just me and two other souls travelling down this lonely dark foggy highway. The soldier is sleeping and the college student has his face stuck to his cell phone. I wonder who are you and where you will end up.
My thoughts return to my home and my struggle to get back there. My heart aches as I settle back into this bus ride from hell. As I fade back to sleep I hear “wheel in the sky” on the speaker and I wonder what tomorrow will bring for me.
