Bursting Into Flowers

Upon rockets they'd been launched into the night sky
Each of them more beautiful than the ones before
Exploding in bright array, resounding on high
Despite the scent of acrid smoke, crowds shouted, "More!"

Each of them more beautiful than the ones before
Bursting into life like newly blossomed flowers
Despite the scent of acrid smoke, crowds shouted, "More!"
Like tossed petals they fell in prismatic showers

Bursting into life like newly blossomed flowers
Exploding in bright array, resounding on high
Like tossed petals they fell in prismatic showers
Upon rockets they'd been launched into the night sky

Thank you very much, Caren. The thought came to me through a photograph. They bursts looked like peonies and chrysanthemums.

Jan, your compliments are so encouraging, and so many poets have been as kind to me as you are. Thank you. It's raining here so hopefully the noise will be kept to a minimum. Here's hoping a better year lies ahead for everyone.

Nothing beats a great fireworks display, seen some amazing ones in Florida at the parks. Not my favourite form but you've written it well. I hope this coming new year brings you good health and happiness Jenna. Tom

Tom, I've enjoyed many beautiful displays, especially those over Cinderella's Castle. I hope the New Year is kinder to you and your loved ones. Not my favorite form either, but required for the contest.
