Burning Sandalwood

In a ever expanding vast , dense, dark ,wild forest, crooked ,cracked, bent trees, which provide shade ,bearing fruits venomous ,with roots rotten deep down and spreading to its offshoots. In the midst ,lies a sandalwood, spreading enchanting fragrance without acknowledging its inner essence and withering away for those ugly, huge trees. Every tree, offshoot and grass boasted about their greatness, wallowing in their super ego mocking, inflicting pain on the sandalwood tree. Stood in silence, bearing all the grime of others small and big. One day ,forest caught fire, caused by three big trees and the sandalwood shielded them,by burning itself.... when it needed to heal, crooked trees scald it deep, making it think ,its bitter and bad. Has the sandalwood really become bitter ,or is it spreading the ever soothing ,calming fragrance through the forest through wildfires while burning to ashes. Date: Written On:27-03-25 PS:This is poem is heavily influenced by a story from ‘UPANISHAD’ with little tweaks from my side. The UPANISHAD story talks about the great virtue sandalwood tree i.e about the wise souls who benefit mankind through their presence and also their absence. Hope i did justice to the story. Please share your opinions .
