Burning Bridges

Holding on to the past, to the pictures of once was,
flying forward and falling free, past visions i still see,
mistakes are molded in anger and in passion,
the bridges tower and burn, the ashes in the urn,
untying the emotional knots and cords that bind us,
time has healed but the scars remain,
memory's are the source of the pain,
taking the high road, paying homage to whom was scorned,
climbing an empathy tree, to feel, to see,
grasping the branches of their misery,
disarm oneself, no more fighting, rest our quarrels,
playing no more games, each side has lost,
to what end, at what cost,
finding a new life, a new beginning with boundless possibilities,
endless happiness, is the way we should spend our lives,
with pride, hoping each others life thrives.......
