Notes About The Poem

7/19/2026 for Mend The Fences Or Burn The Bridges Poetry Contest sponsored by Margarita Lillico

Burning and Mending

Burning bridges makes you feel light and free.
Some situations are only dead weight.
It's great when you know longer have to see
one that might upset or infuriate.

Mending fences can help someone restore
a relationship that has some merit.
bringing back the good times you knew before.
Life is much better when you can share it.

One important thing that I've learned, my friend -
It is much easier to burn than mend.

Iv learned the same ~ cus even if we mend whats shaky, it remains bent! So its best we burn it all, and just swallow the flames and ashes and move on from it all. Wise words dear david. This one hits deep! And also made me smile at how refreshingly accurate it is! Sending you light always ~

Thanks, Ink. I guess it's like the gambler's expression, "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em"

I believe that. It's so much easier to burn bridges than mend fences.

Yup, it's always easier to destroy than to build!
