Build Your First Brick
There was a man with life in tatters
didn't know where to turn to
his wife left him children and all
nowhere to live what could he do
Then one day met a stranger
told him of his terrible plight
come with me he said kindly
we've spare room to spend night
From then they became firm friends
got him a regular job and income
eventually got a home of his own
it all started with that small crumb
When things come crashing down
on your own life is such trouble
then you must build your first brick
blow hard to make your bubble
That first step's so important
to go forward at that time
once it's taken you're on move
life's hit your peak in your prime
(I have written this poem inspired by the word "perestroika".
The best translation from Russian I can come up with is "rebuilding", but it is not quite so, the word means tearing down for the purpose of building better.)
