Bubblegum Sandwich

Had that strangest time feeling
caught myself between my eyes
awake in a dream
floating certainties of sensing
this reality
another finality
something somewhere
with beneficent intention

Couldn't sleep
felt myself within
a subterranean hearth
burning irregular
drifting in flames
a voices continuance
from out of the deep
repeating an endless of unknown names

Fantastical or grotesque this curious
unsure thing this state of design
these things of who we are
shadows of a million mortals
the sacred geometry in
what are we made of
standing together in a dawn
the resolution
all our wellsprings of emotion

Restless under my sheets of sleepless
too many icons to circle around
my cheating consciousness
too much thinking within their sound
a wounded Minotaur
pacing through a labyrinth
seeks its surface
within creation

I rattled against the iron
fretful at the truth beyond
let me out of this prison
this fear
for centuries
has surrounded them
it's bubblegum sandwich
their only meal to chew on

Tired at sunrise
same impromptu day
the purse of unhinged beneath my eyes
peering between clenched jaw
my confusion
insomnia
too quiet to do me any good
but place this commotion
upon a shelf
there may gather its heedless dust
there in its realm of unbidden disturbance
but leave me
forever marked
and on its goading point
remain
dreamless
