Notes About The Poem

BRUISES

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After the collision, the skin remembers~ a slow bloom of violet, tender beneath fingertips. Like storm clouds gathering under the surface, these marks whisper in shades of yellow and blue. They are maps of impact, soft archives where the body keeps its quiet reckonings. Fading hope, a swallowed scream~ proof that even silence can bruise.
If I am right in thinking that this one is about abuse, it is very effective in delivering the message of what some women live with every day. Thank you for sharing it with us. Sara K
you are correct, Sara K. This is about physical and emotional abuse regardless of gender.
