Bruised Love

The red bruise
Misleading symbol, not love's hue
But a map of my pain
A testament to your rage

Your anger, my sorrow
Your ego, my suffering
Your pleasure, my helplessness
Your power, my despair

Don't mistake my vulnerability
For weakness, it's not
You're not strong, just controlling
I loved, you didn't.

My heart once open, now battered
By your hand, your words
Love turned to shame, to pain
A lesson learned, a heart scarred"
