Brother

When you were young You were invincible. Imagination was your guide, And you were always the hero. Your life has turned out just the same And now you are the one, That gives to those you know and love The strength to be the same. You’ll never know the truth Of how you changed our lives, By being just the man you are; By being just yourself. But smaller eyes look up at you And see you’re even greater, For me you’ve been there many years, And for that I’m truly thankful. Even though I’ll never say it You know I’ll always love you; You know that you’re the only one That I’ll ever call my brother. The blood that flows between us, It never really mattered; What really made the difference Was that you were always there. I cannot tell you just how much I’m glad that you’re still here; Another year we’ve had with you And felt all of your love. I only hope you feel the same From those of us you’ve touched. But even so I think I’ll say To make it very clear; For me there never was a doubt As to who you really were. Your are and always will remain: My Friend, My Friend, My Brother.
