Broken Wings

Broken wings I'm trying to fly with
Words on a page are what I cry with
Pride, respect, Honor and dignity are what I hope I Die with
Broken wings I'm trying to fly with

I'm lost but I don't want to be found
Trying to out swim sharks in a world that wants to see me drown
Trying to fly with wings that are broken
Fell in love with my pain, had a fling with my emotions

Social workers told me I'd end up dead or in jail
I wouldn't live past 21, they put it in my head that I'd fail
Instead of inspiring me
Then they wondered why I was rebellious and didn't do what was required of me

Age 17 I had a knife pulled on me, punched the guy and ran
The fact I got away, let me know I have some kind of plan
A few months later I overdosed, but survived the suicide attempt
Could a princess ever love such a damages prince?

Had so many relationships go wrong, I don't believe in love right now
I need to repair my heart, I'm not ready for a wife now
I find peace, knowing I'll have closure one day
I didn't think this poem through that's why it's all over the place

Broken wings I'm trying to fly with
Words on a page are what I cry with
Pride, respect, Honor and dignity are what I hope I Die with
Broken wings I'm trying to fly with
