Broken Wings!

Trapped within this cage of flesh, a sparrow A soul, always longing to flee its confines, to soar so free Born, tied to its walls of mephitic truths; but unwilling These eyes that burn, until they succumb unto its pantheon Of subsistings stitchings of reasons and thoughts.... Carnivorous' desires to cannibalize its natural foe Within equilibriums of shiftings enthymemes entrenched As vague becomes the light, of these eyes that grow blurry While scratching these pervading concretes of mindlessness With broken nails, now dripping this crimsons tale Of a life and soul cast asunder, by the pentacles sharpened edge.... Phalanges forces as famished piranhas, feasting Upon a skeletally growing figure, that once dreamed of a utopia The innocence, which through time it lost.... For now it bows, while breathing its gasping and final breaths Trapped within this cage of rotting flesh, a teardrop falls Where the shadows servals and the vultures gather--An offering unto These voracious advesaries, bent, upon their unquenching thirst Of this unknowing soul.... That once longed to break its fetters, and flee these crumblings Now buried alive, within the tombs of its sorrows.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Broken Wings!

This is a profoundly touching piece, John. I don't know why, but the ending opened up my tear ducts. The flow is riveting as one becomes engrossed by the imagery. Someone I knew said that adversaries and the trials they create are there to make one stronger. I think perhaps they do, but it can still wear one down. Very nicely done, John! I think that many can relate to this piece. I hope all's well with you...God bless you and yours..Love to you...Mikki

Wow is right! it goes from beauty, to sadness, to putrid and sad again - very vivid and holds a powerful message of the flesh, and being too late. awesome poem John, love the wording here, love Kristin
