Broken sunshine
Broken sunshine falls on my face
As I stand here in this lonely place
But in this brokenness,
I see The strength and resilience inside of me
I may be misunderstood by others
But I still have my own truths to discover
And in the end, that's all that matters
Standing in the broken sunshine,
I will rise above the chatter
Standing in the broken sunshine
Searching for my own truth divine
The one I thought would understand
Has turned out to be blind in this land
I spoke my words with such clarity
But they misunderstood my sincerity
No efforts made to fix my fears
They have no idea how much it costs me tears
Wrapped in confusion, I try
But all my attempts go unnoticed by and by
Giving more of myself than I should
I'm tired of being continuously misunderstood
Struggling to find a true friend
My heart now heavy, I can't pretend
Misunderstood by the one I hold dear
Leaves me feeling depleted and full of fear
Broken sunshine falls on my face
As I stand here in this lonely place
But in this brokenness, I can see
The strength and resilience inside of me
I may be misunderstood by others
But my own truths, I will uncover
In the end, that's all that really matters
Standing in the broken sunshine, my spirit will not shatter
Rising above the noise and the chatter
I'll embrace my own truth and let it scatter
For I am more than what they perceive
Standing in the broken sunshine, I will believe.
