Broken Shell

Complete quietude, not a sound.
Shadows above, moving round.
Taste of rust, smell of salt.
Locked into this mechanical vault
Water rising fast,
Coming in through shattered glass.

Her mind starts to clear.
Insanity. Heartache. Fear.
Searching for the best solution.
Escape or accept this absolution.
Like a strike of lightening,
Sound returns. Voices yelling, utterly frightening.

Tears are streaming. Pain excruciating.
The cold edging her to take a deep breath and release everything.
Crashing , flooding , darkness, stillness.
Clutching, grasping, pulling, lightness.
The hands of safety grip her tight.
She can not take anymore, she can not fight.

When the empty shell broke so did the charade.
The smiles and laughs were just a facade.
Rainbows and butterflies are make belief,
Looking for anything to give relief.
Thin sheets, white walls, calm voices.
Solitude, soft eyes, many choices.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
