Broken Promise

Shot in the chest a soldier staggers, alone, through the woods to his end

It happened in the midst of battle but it wasn't his enemy, it was his friend

Both loved the same woman and jealousy ran deep

The battle broke and havoc ensued, the friend took the leap

Frustrated that he came in second, he had to win

Given the chance, he released the monster within

He stared his his friend in the eyes

He shot him dead center and watched him wander off to die

That soldier has seconds left

He sees his one true love before he embraces death

How deep, dark and incredibly sad. Such a tragic scenario not to be killed by the enemy but by your friend:-( Excellently penned:-) Hugs jan xxx

Seen the very pieces of the broken promises.
