Broken Locket

This silver trinket means so much to me An old broken locket from yesterday Caught in a memory of mystery The womanly image on my mind does play. Her countenance is definitely pensive Graceful shoulders and hands arranged just so Beautiful brooch on blouse looks expensive Intuitive feeling what do I know? Father passed away, among his papers Photograph of woman from my locket Love letter asking him a great favour Her brooch he kept safe in velvet pocket. Mystery now solved the story revealed But, why oh why was my mother concealed? One In Five Sonnet Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Joseph May 23/06/2022
