Broken Glass
I once was whole
A human being with a soul
I held on too tight and you let
me go. I closed my eyes
because I thought you would never
leave me.
But just like broken glass
you shattered me and
into little pieces I fell
on concrete. Like alcohol
I burned inside as the realization
of you being gone swallowed me
whole.
Nobody could see the bruises
I was so transparent
to them and all I wanted
to do was run away
from this empty stage
But people were dying
for an encore.
I shut everyone out but
inside I could see the
images replaying like
the chorus of some bad
karaoke song.
All I wanted was to be alone
to find a corner where I could
remain broken.
But no one would let me stay
broken they made me ride
a train and gave me a token.
They said this journey is part
of life and if you break you must
survive otherwise just end it all
pull that trigger and let yourself fall
they said remaining broken isn't
any life at all.
