Broken
I stand before you broken
You knew before words were spoken
But your love cannot medicate
The self-hatred I need to eradicate
Scattered pieces of my heart
Litter the highway moving further apart
Like shattered glass I can't again be whole
And in my chest is a chasm sized hole
I was undone by the very love in your eyes
Because taped to my tongue is a bill of lies
And as it unravels I can see anger growing
But it's a window to my soul I'm showing
I reach out but you were already far away
And no matter how I wished you would stay
God needed his favorite angel in Heaven
Shunning the devil's favorite heathen
Rhyme is slowly broken without reason
When loneliness is less a feeling and more a season
I want to reach out to the light but shadows creep
You always knew I was in too deep
So I stand before you broken
You knew before words were spoken
This love was never meant to be
And maybe that's what set you free
