Broke It Off

"I hate you.
You never did
love me, did you?"
Her words.

The right words for this
could not be found
in Shakespears' finest.

It is a shame
that so often,
to do the right thing
means to bastardize the conscience.

Truth be told

There is no optimism
in love.

It lives on for awhile
and it is marvelous
it is incomparable
it is our greatest triumph

Then it dies
without so much a warning
as a chest cough
with no chance
of recessitation.
