Breezing Trees Heard the Whispers of Leaves

Amidst trees cover; shelters shadow, lace Ferns, and flora. A citadel's embrace Once coppice now cracks, and cushion soft moss. Liana crawls upon the stone, exhausts Castle walls for access to the filter Of sunlight, sweet fragrant magic philter. Noiseless dark and deep, disquiet rhythmic Mistral wind, alongside natures lactic, Lying in ill warrant still slumbering. Its own age quill rule; restless wandering In its grandeur, brandish securities. Ought they, beget these magical beauties, Crows radiant mid-night impudent thieves, Where breezing trees heard the whispers of leaves. 4/17/2020

This sonnet mimics the sonnets of the old masters - Shakespeare for one, Coleridge for another and Thoreau. Well penned!

How sorry I feel for trees that find themselves in forest fires - I love trees and they have so much to tell us as some have been around for hundreds of years Their leaves rustle in glory, telling us their life's story. Terrific write Eve, as always, Blessings, Jennifer.

Hello Eve … trees are magical. They provide everything needed in life so why do we cut them down. With their leaves whispering if only we could take heed, but soon the winter shall claim them - thank you Eve - Lindsay
