Breathing

Fallen angels, broken wings
in sorrows arms, desperation sings.
Silent tears and wordless lies,
a moment of pain where innocence dies.
Bid a sad farewell to glory past,
and years of joy that went too fast.
Apologies for angers sake,
A life you give for the years you take.
A shadow of a man, a hollow shell,
Trading glimpses of heaven
for an eternity in hell.
Waiting for redemption
that doesn't exist
Weeping for a dead love
and an almost forgotten kiss
Another long night
with no will to survive,
Breathing still...
yet not alive.

My writing is so often a kind of purge. I wake up feeling gray and static filled, and the words seem to quell the inner noise. I have experienced great sadness in my life and these pieces help me move past it. James
