Breathe!

I know you have stopped and listened
To the words hurled at you
From both your loved ones and strangers
Lies that when believed became true

Don’t lie and tell me you haven’t
We’ve all been there at least once,
When everyone around you points and whispers
Daggers that go straight for the heart

I know for a fact you’ve felt it
The feeling of your lungs losing air
Breathe coming in short uneven gasps
As voices starts to drown you, “So unfair!”

I’ll be honest dear, I’ve been there
Still is, to be completely clear
And all I can say to you who is reading this
“I really just want to breathe!”
