Breaking Waves

Softly listen to breaking waves
Crashing ceaselessly o'er your shore
Heaven's gate surrounded by ocean light
Childlike voices echoing in the wind

Life's pace slows quietly
Time begins as time ends without notice
Screaming gulls wheeling overhead
Reverberating our sorrow endlessly

Softly listen before time slips past
Whirling faster and ever faster still
Children become grown before tomorrow goes
Loving and creating children of their own

What once was yours shall be gone forever
Cherish the gifts that have been given you
Wrap your arms around your chosen fates
Follow the path that brings you joy

Softly listen to the soulless wind
Empty heartbeats echoing your own
Lonely flowers shall lie at your feet
Grown children turn and walk away

Sad but I've found it true. My son was my world. Perhaps he shouldn't have been but I was taught that Mother was one of my 2 acceptable roles the second being wife. I refer you to my verse "Son" Light & Love Debbie Guzzi
