Breaking Up
You're breaking up,
a once strong signal
is being hacked by a light eroding time.
Pixels are blinking in and out,
a memory thread is fraying,
your features and voice disappearing,
peeling away from a past picture
once framed by a familiar clarity.
An entropy has led to a forgetfulness,
a loss I can no longer patch together.
I was once so confident
of your enduring imprint
upon my consciousness.
Now your sign and signature
are fast flowing into an ever-changing sea,
and for all I know
that you that I speak of
could be me.
