Breaking Rules

I always wonder at the folks Who do not follow rules, Who violate the status quo, Think followers are fools. A traffic light that’s red? Who cares? No motorbikes allowed? Let’s speed along where people walk And blast our music LOUD! A flight attendant wanting me To sit here with a mask? I’ll knock her teeth out; maybe then She’ll be afraid to ask. A bicycle chained up outside? The owner’s not around, So I can take it for myself And show off what I’ve found. The list can just go on and on; This stuff just isn’t right, Yet more and more we’re powerless To stand our ground and fight. When rules are made and put in place, What used to be expected Was that they would be followed And not nastily rejected.

I'm guessing a lot of people feel this way. I'm surprised at how many people are breaking rules. I knew one guy that wouldn't obey the bi-law sign saying "No Dogs" because it didn't have the bi-law number on the sign. It got me to thinking that manners might be more important than rules. Trevor

Upon reading our newspaper this morning, I thought what a waste our government is, arguing and passing laws which are never enforced. A man incites people to kill and destroy, yet our Senate determines he is not accountable simply because, "it is over and done with!" Another winner!

Excellent observations, Ilene. Seems too many jerks think the rules apply to everyone except themselves and that makes my blood boil!!!!! Bob

and if the "rules' are not enforced then there is seemingly no reason to follow them.....

Rules are there for a purpose, sad that many break them making it worse for everyone else. Tom

Ah, you make such a good point here, Ilene. What has happened to the genteel society? I am so afraid we are walking a fine line into anarchy. I shall continue to obey the rules....

You are so right, Ilene! Rules and even laws today are treated as suggestions. There's no respect. Great write pointing this out! Blessings, Kim M
