Breaking Rocks

a rise of debris
gestures in a fallout
created with every swing
breaking sounds crush
pebbles scraping
gravel spilling free
clinging dust
bruises and cuts
pause to breath
the loyal winds
toss about scatters
letters of hope
words etched in stone
cement rows of sorrow
beg and borrow
the weight of belief
a place of need
raises high
and falls again
forward and back
the click and clack
pebbles to stones
rubble to ash
cinders of past
a shadows leap
wake sandy bones
dusty faces hidden
holding dearly departed
pressing a burden
angles to gravity
provokes
the weight of a hammer
